Step 6: Post-Inquiry Removal

About this step:

After the inquiry removal process has been completed, you will need to have any possible Fraud Alerts removed from your credit reports.

Transunion Fraud Alert Removal Process:

For Transunion, you can call 1-800- 680-7289 or visit https://service.transunion.com/ to create an account or log in if you already have one. Watch the above video to learn more about removing the extended fraud alert from your credit report online.

  1. If you call Transunion, you must verify information about yourself with the representative. 
  2. It is important that you state you want to update the phone number on your credit report. If asked about the number currently listed on your report that does not match your phone number, the number could be 1-574-498-7822. Then give the representative the correct phone number.
  3. You can also ask them to remove the extended fraud alert from your credit report after you have been verified.
  4. The update is instant in Transunion’s portal. However, check back with the creditor y

Experian Fraud Alert Removal Process:

For Experian, you can call Experian Consumer Affairs Dept at 1-833-559-0875 or visit https://www.experian.com/fraud/center.html

  1. To remove the fraud alert by calling the number above. If you call Experian, you must verify information about yourself with the representative.
  2. It is important that you state you want to update the phone number on your credit report. If asked about the number currently listed on your report that does not match your phone number, the number could be 1-574-498-7822. Then give the representative the correct phone number.
  3. The update should be instant in Experian’s portal. However, check back with the creditor you are trying to verify yourself with after 24hrs to give their system time to reset.

Equifax Fraud Alert Removal Process:

For Equifax, you can call 1-800-525-6285

or

visit https://www.equifax.com/personal/credit-report-services/credit-fraud-alerts/

  1. If you call Equifax, you must verify information about yourself with the representative.
  2. It is important that you state you want to update the phone number on your credit report. If asked about the number currently listed on your report that does not match your phone number, the number could be 1-574-498-7822. Then give the representative the correct phone number.
  3. You can also ask them to remove the extended fraud alert from your credit report after you have been verified.
  4. The update should be instant in the Equifax portal. However, check back with the creditor you are trying to verify yourself with after 24hrs to give their system time to reset.
